That "rule" is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. It renders diplomacy (between non-neighbouring states) or international mediation impossible, to name just a couple of things. Any international organization such as the UN would be invalidated (to the great joy of the U.S. and Israel, by the way).

On the other hand, Israel's main sponsor, the U.S. is half the world away and yet it not only has a say on what happens there, but it funnels weapons and money without which Israel couldn't "defend itself". Israel isn't an independent country, it's a protectorate, living off donations from rich Jews which are invested to ensure the direct support of a foreign country. It was built on the promise of a foreign occupier who had no real claim on the land, against the wishes of the majority of the inhabitants at the time. It would work great for Israel if it could keep receiving the tax money of the American people, with no questions asked to wipe out or drive away a stateless people, whose only real support comes from a country that's 2,000 km away (and whose religious dogma is hostile to their own). If ever there was one land dispute that has caused the most international attention (and meddling, one way or another) it's the Middle East crisis. And we aren't allowed to have an opinion? Are American citizens who are literally paying for Israel to commit atrocities not allowed to have an opinion about it? Are the rest of the citizens of "the West" that dutifully follow behind the U.S. in all this not supposed to have an opinion?
