Our government in Greece has strong neo-liberal tendencies. Despite everything it insists not staffing and properly equipping public hospitals, where doctors have been fighting a bitter war against the pandemic for two years now with the absolute minimum means. The cries of hospital staff regarding the lack of qualified ICU personnel have gone unanswered and now we are going to experience the full brunt of the Omicron wave.

Daily cases are skyrocketing to unprecedented levels and we're a few days away from seeing how this will impact the death ratio. The start of the new year, I fear, is not going to be bright and hopeful for Greece.
